2011 College Table
Tennis National Championships April 15-17, 2011
in Rochester, MN
**NEWS RELEASE** APRIL 11, 2011
Longtime Sponsor Newgy Industries
Returns for 2011 Championships Continues
Its Decade-Long Support of College Table Tennis
Newgy,
a name synonymous with table tennis robots, is also widely known among
college table tennis for their longtime support of the sport. Continuing what
now amounts to a decade-long relationship with collegiate competition and NCTTA more specifically, Newgy Industries
will once again be a key sponsor for the 2011 College Table Tennis National
Championships. In
addition to providing court barriers and financial support for college table
tennis’ main event, Newgy will also be contributing a number of Newgy Robo
Pong table tennis robots. Both the men’s and women’s singles Champions, plus
a lucky men’s/coed and women’s team participating in the event will be
awarded their very own Newgy robot to take back to their school. “Newgy
Industries is a devout, long-term supporter of scholastic table tennis, from
elementary school to college” explained Newgy General Manager Larry Thoman on
their continued support of college table tennis. “We believe that for the
sport to elevate its status in the US, it is essential that table tennis be
included in physical education curriculum and in interscholastic and
intramural sports programs.” Newgy
doesn’t just talk the talk, but walks the walk as well. In addition to their
sponsorship of the Collegiate Championships, Newgy also supports the NCTTA
National Scholarship program which awards scholarships to outstanding student
athletes attending NCTTA member schools. And if that’s not enough Newgy also
has been working to establish table tennis programs in local elementary, middle,
and high schools surrounding their Gallatin, Tennessee headquarters. Adds
Thoman, “We are grateful for NCTTA actions in organizing and promoting the
sport at the collegiate level and being wise in acknowledging that for their
own organization to succeed, the sport must also succeed at the lower
academic levels also.” Those
interested in Newgy’s scholastic table tennis programs or looking to try out
their industry leading table tennis robots can check out their booth at the
