FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April
8, 2013 Butterfly and Newgy to Sponsor NCTTA Championships Table
Tennis Sponsors Come Together Again to Sponsor the Collegiates Ma Long is the planet’s table tennis leader when it
comes to ranking the best male players. So says the ITTF that recently released its April 2013
World Rankings. Ding Ning is No. 1 when it comes to
table tennis rankings for women. The two fantastic players are from China
where table tennis is king. When it comes to world-class table tennis equipment
companies, Butterfly leads the way. At NCTTA headquarters, we are delighted
to have Butterfly return for the second consecutive year as one of the lead
sponsors of our Collegiate Table Tennis Championships in Rockford, Illinois. Fans who go to the Forest City Tennis Center in
Rockford will notice a sea of Butterfly tables, and countless Butterfly table
tennis balls spinning at our tournament in the Land of Lincoln from April
12-14. The event will attract about 300 of North America’s best collegiate
players from 50 colleges. Having Butterfly on our team
makes the NCTTA’s three-day table tennis marathon so much better. “We’ve loved our partnership with Butterfly ever since
the announcement was first made and continue to be impressed with the
company’s deep inroads throughout the table tennis world,” said National
Collegiate Table Tennis Association President Willy Leparulo.
“We hope the partnership continues to blossom at the 2013 tournament and
beyond.” Butterfly leaders are happy to be a big part of our
championship games once again. “Butterfly is proud to sponsor the NCTTA College Table
Tennis Championships for the second consecutive year,” said Bowie Martin,
Jr., president of Butterfly North America. The NCTTA and Butterfly, he said, “have a common goal
of growing table tennis participation through college team league and
tournament play.” Since becoming the national organization for college
table tennis in 1999, the NCTTA has grown in terms of teams and players
participating, Martin noted. As a result of these positive steps, the NCTTA
is “the leading grassroots table tennis organization in North America,” the
Butterfly leader said. The NCTTA oversees competition every year involving 160
colleges and universities in the USA and Canada. Following divisional and
regional tournament play during the 2012-2013 season,
the cream of the crop is traveling to Rockford for the National Championships.
Texas Wesleyan University prevailed as the coed team champion last season,
while Lindenwood University in Missouri captured
the women’s title in 2012. Both squads will be strong again in mid-April, but
will face stiff opposition. Butterfly banners will be quite visible once the
games begin in a few days. “Congratulations to the teams and players participating
in this year’s College Championships. The Butterfly team wishes you a great
experience with the competition and friendly camaraderie,” Martin said. When players put down their paddles and take a break
from practices leading up to the championships, there’s plenty of time to
check out the vast resources on the Butterfly website. From featured
videos like the 2013 World Team Classic that pits Ma Long against Chuang Chih-Yuan to tips from experts, there’s always something
interesting on the Butterfly website. The 2013 Butterfly Cary Cup Semifinals
with Eugene Wang facing Damien Provost in early April is another must-see
video. The NCTTA has another terrific sponsor working with us.
That would be Tennessee-based Newgy Industries
that’s best known for its table tennis robot a machine that shoots table
tennis balls at varying speeds and spins. It’s the most consistent practice
partner you’ll find, whether or not there are other players around. The NCTTA featured the Newgy
machine at the 2012 championships in Plano, Texas and it’s coming back for
the 2013 games in Rockford. It’s an instant hit for table tennis fans and
players, young and old alike. Roger Dickson from Newgy
will be at the NCTTA Championships in Rockford to show off the robot and all its
qualities! Newgy Industries is really committed to NCTTA players. And it’s
more than talk. The innovative company works with NCTTA leaders to provide the
annual National
Table Tennis Scholarship program for outstanding table tennis players who also excel in
the classroom on college campuses. NCTTA leaders like President Willy
Leparulo and Vice President Joe Wells applaud the
company for their efforts to promote such scholarships and make other moves
to enhance collegiate table tennis. “We join the entire NCTTA family in
welcoming Newgy as we get set to begin the 2013
championships in Rockford,” Leparulo said. Newgy
Industries is pitching in as the official barrier sponsor of the 2013 College
Table Tennis Championships. For more information, go to www.newgy.com. Butterfly serves as the official table and equipment
