- Filter on gender.
- Copy Name and School columns into NCTTA Singles Spreadsheet.
SINGLES SPREADSHEET
(Men's matches have red-colored tabs and women's matches have yellow-colored tabs.)
Players Tab
- Enter competition info on Row 1.
- Paste Name and School columns into NCTTA Singles Spreadsheet.
- If ID is "#N/A", first check RatingList tab for a misspelling. Then enter a unique negative number for new players.
- If the player's e-mail address is blank, then copy/paste the e-mail address from the Division sheet.
- Players need to be sorted from highest rating to lowest rating.
- Estimate ratings for players with "#N/A" by typing over the "#N/A".
- Select all of the player data and click on the "Sort & Filter" icon.
- Choose "Custom Sort…"
- Uncheck "My data has headers".
- Set "Sort by" to Column B.
- Set "Order" to Z to A.
- Click on OK.
Round Robin Tabs
- Now that the players are in rated order, you need to place them into groups using the "snake" method.
- Copy the ratings, names, and school to a blank page.
- Use the singles guidelines on Row 463 of the INSTRUCTIONS sheet to determine how many round robin groups and what size of groups.
- An example of using the "snake" method can be found on Row 187 of the INSTRUCTIONS tab.
- Once you have them separated into their round robin groups, then you select the correct round robin tab (eg., MS-4, MS-5, MS-6, MS-7), click on the yellow cell, click on the dropdown arrow, and highlight the player name from the alphabetical list.
- Note: The "Event" defaults to "2P" which means two players advance out of the round robin group to the crossover matches. If you want only one player to advance out of the round robin group, then you need type "1P" into that cell. Doing such, will change the order of the matches to be played.
- As you select the player names, their Player ID and rating will appear on the individual match slips to the right.
- Simply print the individual match slips, cut them with a pair of scissors, and hand them to the players for them to record their scores.
- When you get the individual match scores back, you simply enter the scores in the yellow cells.
Crossovers Tab
- Instructions can be found on Row 331 of the INSTRUCTIONS tab.
- On the crossover draw, the winner of Group 1 goes at the top of the draw.
- The winner of Group 2 goes at the bottom of the draw.
- The winners of Groups 3 and 4 are placed in the middle of the draw by lot unless geographic separation is needed.
- Runners-up always go in the opposite half of the draw from the winners in their group.
- Byes go to the tops seeds first in order.
- The bottom of your draw depends on how many groups you have. For example, if you have 4 groups of 4 players then the bottom of your crossover draw would be Row 19 (Cell F19) since you will have 8 players…4 winners and 4 runners-up.
- You can change the names of the rounds by changing the text in the yellow cells on Row 3. For instance, if you have just 8 players in the crossovers then Cell F3 should say "Quarterfinals", Cell G3 "Semifinals", and Cell H3 "Finals".
- Winners automatically advance to the right and losers to the left.
- The match numbers are identified by each round.
Matches Tab
- Print the individual match slips from the MATCHES tab. Cut them with scissors and give them to the players to record their scores.
- When they bring them back, enter the results in the yellow cells.
- The matches are in sequential order.
- Players will automatically advance in the correct direction depending on their results.
Extra Matches
- To set up the match between the losing semifinalists for third place, you will need to move further down Column F on the CROSSOVER tab and find an empty bracket where you can select the two player's names.
- Find the match number on the MATCHES tab and print their individual match slip.
- The same thing can be done for the losing quarterfinalists.
NOTE: You are required to submit your results knowing the exact positions of players 1-8.
