Canadian and US Collegiate Table Tennis Teams Meet

The University of Akron is the location of the 2015 NCTTA Great Lakes Regional Championships sponsored by Joola, Double Fish and TMS. The Great Lakes Region consists of six divisions located in the Great Lakes area: Ohio East, Ohio West, Upstate New York, Greater Toronto, Canada East and Michigan. The top teams from these six divisions will descend upon the University of Akron to battle it out on Saturday, February 21st to earn regional titles as well as berths to the TMS 2015 College Table Tennis Championships.

Up to 12 Men's/Coed teams, 8 Women's teams, 24 Men's Singles players and 16 Women's Singles players will be in competition, where passion and persistence are the key words of the day.

Chris Wang, NCTTA's League Director and Canadian says about the region, "Great Lakes is so deep every year and this year is no different. The Canadian and USA mix of collegiate table tennis is always a pleasure to see unfold."

This region features schools from two countries, since two of the divisions are located in Canada. The Canadian universities add an interesting aspect to the Championships, making it an international event; many players from the Canadian schools must procure visas to cross the border!

McMaster University out of the Greater Toronto division look to be the favorites, with players representing the Canadian National team; they were featured in their own article in January.

Never count out the Americans as on the US side, Cornell, Michigan, Ohio State, and upstarts Case Western Reserve look to mix things up!
